No. All of the CHILDTRAC System's powerful features are accessible directly through a computer, tablet or smartphone, yours or someone you are giving access to.
Do I need to sign any long term subscription service plan to use the CHILDTRAC Personal GPS System?
NO LONG TERM CONTRACT! The CHILDTRAC System is an all-in-one solution. There are no long term contracts or expensive,
ongoing subscriptions. We offer very affordable and flexible plans.
Are there any restrictions on Tracker/App usage? For instance, how many Instant Locates may I perform per day?
The Instant locates function uses SMS communication to get the instant location quickly, this is deducted from your plan. The portal updates the location of the tracker every 3 minutes to get the most recent location possible. Only in urgent matter you can use the instant locate to find the tracker. The restrictions you have are related to your monthly communication plan. Case 1: If you are using our CHILDTRAC monthly basic plan, the amount of this package includes up to 30 SMS alerts, unlimited email alerts and 20 minutes of SOS calls per month. If you go over that amount, you will be chargde only on the extra you use as little as 0.19 cents per SMS and $0.45 a minute for a voice call. The package is especially made for our solution and tracker for the purpose of emergency communication. The plan is usually sufficient. If not, the plan can be tailored to your requirements.
Where can I use my CHILDTRAC Personal GPS System?
The CHILDTRAC System’s works together with GSM cell phone networks and GPS satellite signals. The CHILDTRAC System will work if there is a Rogers network GSM cellular and GPS signal coverage.
Can I use my land line to receive messages from my CHILDTRAC Tracker?
No. A regular land line is not able to receive text messages so it will not receive CHILDTRAC Alerts on a landline. However, you may use land lines as SOS 2-way calling call to take advantage of the CHILDTRAC System's full duplex telephone communication capabilities.
Can I call the tracker from my cell phone?
Yes, you can call the tracker from your cell phone or landline if the phone number is a registered number in the portal, the tracker will not receive calls from unknown or unauthorised telephone numbers. The other way to communicate with the tracker is via your pc portal access or if you give access to your portal access to someone else. From your portal, you will be able to access and call the tracker directly, either listen in or two-way voice to the person wearing the tracker. (Depending on the configuration) This is to assure a direct and private communication with this person.
Will the CHILDTRAC System work with any cell phone carrier?
NO, The CHILDTRAC System uses the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) Network; the one used by the vast majority of cell phone carriers, and will only work with cell phone carrier on that network. However, many carriers use a barrier, the Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) network. And some countries have limited access. This is why we provide a custom communication plans that is certified and works well with our system. In Canada we use the Rogers Network coverage and in the USA we use T-Mobile network coverage.
What kind of phone is required to view CHILDTRAC maps?
Any smartphone with data enable or tablet or pc to view and manage the tracker through the web portal.
Will the CHILDTRAC System work outside my home country?
NO. The CHILDTRAC System is configured and certified on the provided network. When travelling outside of the country, you must advise us in order to verify if this country is supported and compatible with our devices. A new SIM card with different communication plans for that specific country. You will have to contact us for this service and we will be able to provide you with compatible communication SIM card.
Can I use my CHILDTRAC Web portal to track more than one CHILDTRAC Tracker at a time?
Yes. There is no limit to the number of Trackers that can be added to your CHILDTRAC web Client portal.
Do I need to pay additional fees to track multiple Trackers on my smartphone?
No. There are no extra fees or add-ons with the CHILDTRAC System. The portal access is included with your monthly package.
How accurate are the CHILDTRAC GPS location reports?
GPS accuracy is somewhat dependent upon geographic and atmospheric conditions. Your CHILDTRAC Tracker has accuracy within a maximum of 5-20 metres (65.7 feet).
I am a Francophone. Is there a French version of the Tracker and the Web portal?
Yes. The portal is offered in many languages, you can select and set the language of your choice for your portal.
How do I turn my CHILDTRAC Tracker off?
To turn the Tracker off, press and hold the Tracker's ON/OFF Switch for about 3 seconds. When the blue and orange lights on the front of the Tracker begin flashing
simultaneously, release the ON/OFF Switch. The tracker will then shut down. Same procedure to turn it on.
What are the dimensions of the CHILDTRAC Tracker? The CHILDTRAC device is small.
How long will my CHILDTRAC Tracker's battery last?
Depending on usage patterns, a single, full battery charge will provide from 24 to 36 hours of uninterrupted use. You can set the % of the Battery Monitor feature to send an alert by email when your battery needs charging. It will advise you every hour of the % left, until you charge it or when it goes below 5% it does not have enough power to do its job and will turn off.
Should I wait for the Tracker's battery to fully deplete before I charge it?
No. There is no need to wait for the battery to fully deplete before recharging it. In fact, we recommend that you charge your Tracker's battery once daily (usually at the end of the day) to ensure a full charge and uninterrupted peace of mind the following day.
Do I have to log in to a web site or contact customer support to make Tracker configuration changes?
For some options, yes. The basic functionalities of the CHILDTRAC are accessible by you via your client access on the ChildTrac web portal. If you want to modify or add other functionalities, you will need to contact us by e-mail with the detailed setting and we will do it for you.
